TRANSFER AND PREPARATION OF MATERIAL

Key points to keep in mind when preparing a project:

• The number of video tracks must not exceed one. Using more than one is permitted only if it is impossible to do without the additional tracks.
• Be sure to delete any unused footage from the timeline.
• Composites—break them down if the project is being transferred from Premiere.
• Retimes—it’s acceptable to leave them as is.
• Scales—leave them if the transfer is via XML or a project file. In the case of rendering (editing “sausage”), it’s best to discuss the details in advance after a review.
• Transitions—set a buffer during rendering or trimming if necessary, or stretch the footage at transition points by the required number of frames when transferring the “sausage.” This applies to transitions that require a frame buffer, such as Cross Dissolve.
• Other effects—remove all effects if the project is from Premiere (they will not be transferred); if the project is from DaVinci, removal is not required.

After preparation, the rendered project must contain the following information:

• Record Timecode

• Source Timecode

• Source Clip Name
